Action Plan for Assessing Key
Competencies
Hook
From my unit application letter:
“I
believe that the Key Competencies are central to everything we do in school
and in life and their importance is often overlooked in our busy teaching and
learning schedule.
I would
like to carry out research, including trialing a variety of self, peer and
teacher assessments in my own classroom first.
Successful strategies could then be shared and built on in other
classrooms.
My goal
is to formulate a key competency assessment strategy that is simple, useful
and empowering to students.”

Wondering, Exploring
I
want to find out:
· what resources are on
tki
· what other schools are
doing in the assessment of the competencies
· how the competencies
can be broken down into concepts that are meaningful to students
· different types of
graphic ways where students can assess themselves
· how to make the
assessment useful for students
· if some of the previous
trials I’ve used and see if they can be resurrected / improved
· how the competencies
can be used in student goal setting
