It's evident that all the research and thinking around this competency has been far greater than what I've attempted to use with the kids. The assessments tended to be isolated, rather than a key part of what we do in LC13. I know that when I demonstrate a thing is important by giving it air time and plenty of credibility (e.g. Personal Investigations, our Assembly, Visual Language), that the quality is vastly lifted. Other examples - Dance and Quiddage haven't required major emphasis from me as the students are innately motivated.
BUT... today is probably the first time for a long time that we haven't had a major upcoming event for a very long time. So this is the time to grab for Key Competencies - Participating and Contributing...
